As we deepen and expand our work, we’re thankful to have our Board of Directors reflect the community, collaboration and coordination needed to transform K-12 education. Their commitment to inform vision and big-picture goals has strengthened our impact toward all students accessing a rigorous and relevant education. And, it’s with excitement that we share updates to our Board of Directors:
Bernadeia Johnson joins the MN Comeback board as an assistant professor at Minnesota State Universityand former superintendent of Minneapolis Public Schools, where she oversaw academic achievement for 36,000 students 7,000 staff members. She is also a board member for the National Council on Teacher Quality.
Carolyn Smallwood, Way to Grow’s executive director of 11 years and former vice-president of sales and marketing at Twin Cities Rise!, is our new co-chair alongside Tad Piper. We’re appreciative of Kipsu’s Chris Smith for the time he spent in that role and his ongoing leadership. Both Tad and Chris are founding board members, helping incubate and launch our organization.
As we continue to journey toward empowered parents, schools and communities, we look forward to the storied expertise and insight Bernadeia will bring to our board and the energized direction Carolyn will lend to this work.
Together, as we’re tackling nation-trailing opportunity gaps, we can continue standing for a stronger, more equitable K-12 experience for all students in Minneapolis!
